Love, a simple four letter word, what does it mean, what does it do?  Why are we infatuated with love?  Perhaps we should break it down a bit, let's get the websters definition.  Websters Dicitionary provides three definitions for the word Love, the first being, "a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person" The second, "attraction that includes sexual desire : the strong affection felt by people who have a romantic relationship" and the third, "a person you love in a romantic way"  So now we understand there are three different variations of the word love.  I suppose four if you include my personal definition.
Let's take a look into Websters first definition, "A feeling of strong or constant affection for a  person."  Well we know that feelings are tied to your emotions and if you have a strong or constant emotion you're really feeling for someone, such as if you have  strong hatred towards somebody.  The last part of the definition provides the part of love, affection, affection is a simple concept that states that basically you hold someone in high regards.  So this definition tells us that love is a strong feeling or emotion for someone we hold in a high regard.
Alright, now for the second definition, "Attraction that includes sexual desire: the strong affection felt by people who have a romantic relationship."  Okay, that's pretty simple to explain, so we won't spend much time here, this one is saying that lust, given with the correct person means love.  Feeling sexually aroused or planning to have sexual intercourse with someone doesn't mean you love them, and infact usually ends up hurting people more than helping them.  Perhaps I'm wrong?
So the third definition, a person you love in a romantic way."  Obviously dating is the correct term for this and as such I find it to have little use here.  But to state that you date someone to find out if you could love them is both correct and incorrect.  You date someone to find out what type of person he/she is.  And then you're brain uses complex mathematics to determine a possible ratio to tell you the simple yes or no question, "Do I love them?"  The harder question for your brain to answer is, "Do they love me?"  and I'll go deep into detail on that later.
So the fourth, my definition of love is complicated and that's why I saved it for last, Love is comprised of four letters, I'll use each letter to describe a specific aspect of love then summarize my definition in the end.  The word Love stars with the letter "L".  So to represent this letter I'll use the word Loud.  Yes Loud, loud emotions, loud hormones, loud brain questioning everything about him/her.  Everything about love is loud.  The second letter to love is "O" and for that letter I choose two words, "Over used."  People say "I love you."  Nearly, and this is just my personal estimate, 70-200 times a day.  The word Love is much to over used and therefore seems to have lost any significant meaning.  "I love cake."  Why would you feel so strongly for cake?  "I love pie." Same thing here.  Instead of liking things people "Love" them now. The third letter letter of love is "V" and while I could think of any number of sexual innuendo's for the letter "V" I'll choose the word Vexing.  Love is binding, blinding, and frustrating.  Being Vexed or cursed is very similar.  To be in love is to be cursed, not in the sense of it's a bad thing, but you'll always be questioning yourself and your partner.  The last letter, "E" could mean so much, to so few.  First off the letter "E" is the most commonly used letter in the alphabet which means that it likes to show up everywhere.  And just like the letter "E" loves also is likes to be everywhere.
So to go summarize, love is confusing, binding, over stated, and everywhere.  We couldn't even exist without love and we sure as hell wouldn't have made it past the first several months of being born without love from someone.  As a human being we yearn for love, but what does that mean?  Do we blind ourselves into thinking that we love inanimate objects in some false attempt that they also love us?  Do we tell ourselves that being sexual active with someone or some people fills our emotional need for love?  No we understand what we're doing but we tell ourselves we don't, we tell ourselves that cake loves us and that saying I love you about everything is acceptable.  Here is the dark truth, a truth that isn't for the faint of heart or the emotionally needy.  There isn't a single person that loves you, aside from your family, because love is a concept that we can't understand, we can't "love" someone.  Don't get me wrong, we can surely feel and tell that love is in and around someone, but we can't force love, we can't just say, "I love you." and immediately feel this way, no we do not control love and therefore we cannot truly love.  It's a side affect of nature, a beautiful side affect and one that I will continue to study, because without love, where would we be?  How would we react to different things?  We wouldn't, we wouldn't even be here.
Anyway, that's enough for now, tell me what you'd like me to get into next time, and I'll do some research on it.  Don't let this scare you, yes your parents love you, yes you love your wife and children, but no, you didn't love them, nature loved on you.
Don't be afraid what I'm saying is more than likely just speculation.
